Freedom day march within the community Heritage day celebration
It is very important for us as Masibambane to take an initiative to March in our community since this day as we all know it is important in history. But in particular ask at the same time to our people what does freedom mean for them, does it mean it’s okay to do crime, is it okay for women in our Democratic Country to be abused as well as the children. In this March we aim to appeal to the community members not to be silent when things like these happen, we want to motivate our community to report crime. The Da Gama festival, the celebration of the indigenous culture of the West Coast.
In St. Helena bay have a very significant monument which is the Da Gama Monument since Da Gama found the town St. Helena Bay, this town is place where the Khoi – San used to reside, however on our Heritage we want to celebrate in diverse people’s culture who currently stay in West Coast Region. In a small scale we want on this day to have festival that we will call the “DA GAMA GONEMMA FESTIVAL.” By doing so we celebrate the diverse people in our region the West Coast Region, we will start with the actual planning in April 2008.
