In 2005, Friends For Life from Germany and Masibambane Community Project from South Africa decided to build up a new form of cooperation between people from both countries. First of all, this cooperation is intended to be a true partnership. That means: Both partners try to help each other, both partners do have the same rights and the same responsibilities.

In 2006, "Abahlobo" was the first project organized by Friends For Life and Masibambane. Athletes from Germany and South Africa´s West coast ran from Springbok (Northern Cape) to the small community of Wupperthal in the Cederberg Wilderness Area. Doing so, participants learned a lot about each other´s culture. |
They discussed ways of supporting youth projects both in South Africa and Germany. All the action of crossing Namaqualand desert and Cederberg Wilderness by foot was captured by professional fotographer Tina Voges from Germany. Friends For Life and Masibambane can use these pictures for exhibition-projects and presentations in both countries, in order to collect donations for youth projects in South Africa. More than that, both partners decided to bring young people from both countries together on a regular basis. A school partnership between Weston High School in Vredenburg and Vechelde College in Germany has already been established. There are plans to open up an International Sports Camp near St. Helena Bay (Western Cape) where young people from different nations and different cultural backgrounds can experience "Trails into the unexpected", which means: By working and training together, they learn to overcome prejudices and they learn to appreciate cultural diversity. There is a lot people from Europe can learn from people in Africa and vice versa. Not the worst accomplishment in a world of growing cultural and economic differences.
