As part of the plans for 2008 Masibambane plans on taking up a new initiative, named the “Adopt a child” programme. Specifically, this project has a special target on those children who come from disadvantaged homes, within our local schools. Strategically, the idea is to get a parent from the community who would voluntarily commit to support one of the needy children and be responsible for the child’s schooling associated needs.
The sole purpose of this programme is to give hope and restore the dignity to these young stars, for them to feel the joys of going to school and not to see themselves as separate from the others. This will be a great opportunity for them to regain the confidence and the esteem that poverty has deprived them. |
This can only be obtained by bringing together all of our stakeholders the local businesses, community, local development organizations, etc. September this year we will be working on the project together with our local school we will identify who will from the kids qualify for the assistance from the project, we will also be inviting stakeholders to commit to the cause. The project will start to operate next year in the beginning of the 2008 school semester.
